Kate Deckard Gonzalez

Kate is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who enjoys working with all ages, including children. Her work is informed by experience in several clinical environments including child welfare, community mental health, and higher education. Kate enjoys treating clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, self-esteem issues, social anxiety, grief, phobias, etc. She utilizes a variety of evidenced based approaches coupled with experiential components such as art and play to engage clients in the therapeutic process. Kate is also trained in Accelerated Resolution therapy (ART) which utilizes the power of eye movements to erase and replace negative images and sensations stored in the brain and body.

After becoming a mother in 2021, Kate grew passionate about normalizing the struggle and reducing the stigma of asking for help during the transition to parenthood. She obtained a certification (PMH-C) in the treatment of perinatal mental health disorders (PMHDs) including depression, anxiety, panic disorder, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and PTSD. Kate’s work spans the entire perinatal period including pregnancy, child birth, and postpartum period. Kate also provides psychoeducation and support to women and families struggling with fertility challenges, birth trauma, and perinatal loss.

Kate is passionate about people and committed to understanding their stories. Her heart is invested in her work, and she feels humbled to walk alongside her clients during their most challenging times. She offers a place for her clients to build a strong therapeutic relationship by modeling and encouraging authenticity and vulnerability. When Kate is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and animals. She is an avid baker, reader, and coffee drinker.
