Shannon Henderson
Shannon is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who brings over 8 years of experience working in the mental health field. She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, parents, and families however does enjoy working with all ages. Her experience includes working with a variety of diagnoses including but not limited to Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Social Anxiety, Depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and other trauma related disorders, adjustment disorder, and family related issues. Shannon is passionate about treating families and believes that the parent-child relationship is an essential piece in healing mental and behavioral health struggles in children and families. After becoming a mom herself, Shannon also has a new found interest in working with clients to address stress related to pregnancy and becoming a new parent.
Shannon utilizes a number of different therapy approaches including person centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution focused therapy and likes to tailor her approach to the need of the client. She also uses experiential techniques through play, art, and physical movement to better engage clients, especially children. Shannon also believes in the use of positive parenting techniques and enjoys educating parents on the benefits of using these techniques in their parenting.
When Shannon is not working she can be found spending time with her family, and especially enjoys quality time with her daughter. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, taking walks and hiking, doing crafts and DIY projects, and watching and attending sporting events.
