Life isn’t always easy. Sometimes, even the strongest people amongst us need a little bit of help to work through some of life’s more challenging problems. Everyone has battles to fight and hurdles to overcome at some point. Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or any other issue, you should know that there is hope for a better tomorrow.
“Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create.”

The Farm
Willow Creek Counseling, LLC has added services at Willow Creek Farm. The farm is a 20 acre farm with a barn and an indoor riding arena. We are in the process of attempting to get heaters for the arena and office space that will also be heated and cooled.
Services at The Farm include traditional individual therapy for adults, adolescents and children; reunification therapy, couples therapy and family therapy. Family therapy is especially successful at this type of setting where multiple interventions, including experiential activities can be utilized. Equine therapy, animal assisted therapy and nature therapy will be used in the farm setting. There are 4 horses, a mini horse and her foal, a pregnant mini donkey, 8 cats and 3 dogs.
Space is very limited due to the weather and the amount of staff that are certified in the above interventions. Please ask for an appointment and mention that you are interested in services at The Farm.
Places to Get Started
About Willow Creek Counseling:
Willow Creek Counseling was started as a place for therapists who want to provide quality therapeutic services in a comfortable and supportive environment. We provide services to adults, couples, families, teens and children to assist them with anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, chronic pain, infertility and many other issues. When seeing children or teens, we believe that parents are an integral part of the therapy process, and parents will be taught how to manage their child’s depression and anxiety. We have started a new program to address anxiety (developed using the Anxious Kids/Anxious Parents model) where one therapist sees the child and another therapist sees the parents. Our therapists want to guide parents and families through divorce and separation, as well as support blended families trying to create a new family structure.
We all have extensive experience in the Child Welfare system, and we can provide therapeutic sessions and visits. We utilize play and exercise as a way for parents to visit with their children when DCFS and the courts require supervision. We will be developing experiential retreats for families to enhance their communication and interpersonal skills.
We all have strong ties to the community, and as we continue to grow, we will become more involved in activities throughout the area. Research shows that people are happiest when they are giving back to others.
Willow Creek Farm was purchased in the summer of 2023 as an addition to Willow Creek Counseling. There are rescue horses, dogs and cats at the farm that will be utilized as interventions to work with individuals and families. Children will be taught the importance of being outdoors and giving back to others (animals) along with empathy and responsibility. The hope is that the farm and indoor arena will be used for various activities such as an indoor dog park, dog training, counseling, equine therapy, and therapeutic retreats.
Willow Creek Counseling is also starting a program for counseling/social work interns and new therapists entering the field. This program will have one of our therapists do the individual supervision and another therapist provide psycho education on all issues related to mental health. The purpose will be to provide a comprehensive experience for interns and new therapists that will allow them to enter the field better prepared and more confident. Willow Creek Counseling is looking for graduate school interns wanting to be a part of this program.
Willow Creek Counseling would like to organize professional mixers for private practice therapists who would like to become more familiar with other professionals in the area for referral purposes, and to assist in meeting the communities needs. These mixers would benefit private practice therapists in discussing the in’s and out’s of working on their own or in a smaller office. Willow Creek counseling would like to bring trainers to the Rockford area for private practice therapists to obtain CEU’s and education on identified needs of the group.
It is our goal that everyone that comes through our doors feels safe, believed, supported and encouraged!
